Power companies aim to make solar energy more expensive

Energy utilities are seeking to push back against policies and incentives that they say make rooftop solar energy too cheap and devalue the electrical grid. Some firms want small-scale solar producers to pay fees; others hope to see the elimination of policies allowing consumers to sell or trade their surplus solar energy. "They are trying to punish people for buying less electricity," argues Bryan Miller of Sunrun. "They are trying to kill solar."
