Chicago union delegates vote down tentative contract

By a vote of 402-289, Chicago Teachers Union delegates rejected a proposal providing 4% raises per year over the next five years to the city's teaching force, raising the possibility of an eventual strike. Calling the delegates' vote "advisory," CTU President Deborah Lynch expressed hope that the union's 33,000 members would approve the proposal when they vote later this month.
