Experts hope to learn from levee breeches

The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers says it will restore New Orleans' levee system to pre-Katrina status before the next hurricane season, and it has begun analyzing the parts of the system that failed when Hurricane Katrina hit. "We want to get in there sooner, rather than later, before the data perishes," said Jim Durrant, managing director of engineering programs for the American Society of Civil Engineers.
