Students, schools work to help environment

Some Kansas City, Mo., students are planting rooftop gardens, encouraging fellow students to recycle and sometimes even pushing their schools to become more environmentally friendly. "Not only is it good for the environment, but most importantly for us, it creates exceptional learning environments for kids," said Dave Hill, executive director of facilities and operations in a district that recently won an Environmental Protection Agency award.
