TSA: Carry-on restrictions for liquids could be eased next year

TSA Administrator Kip Hawley says restrictions on liquids in carry-on bags could be relaxed within the year. The agency is close to approving technology that can detect liquids used in bombs, and 900 new X-ray machines are expected to be in place by the end of 2009. Hawley said of the new technology, "We are within a year of having the ability to differentiate threat liquids through the screening process."
