Analyst: 80% EHR adoption among U.S. providers by 2016

The adoption rate of ambulatory EHRs is poised to grow to roughly 80% in five years as providers begin to see demonstrable return on investment and user-friendly systems become more widely available, predicts Judy Hanover, analyst at IDC Health Insights. Similarly, as more vendors enter the ambulatory EHR market, "providers need to do their homework in selecting financially-stable vendors with up-to-date architecture that's going to support their EHR needs now and going forward, moving into the regulatory reform environment," she said.
