Truman Medical's patient care initiatives draw praise

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius praised two Truman Medical Center projects that increased the number of patients getting cardiac rehabilitation services and tracked those with chronic illness such as diabetes to ensure they took their medications and got follow-up visits with their physicians. Sebelius was in Kansas City promoting the $1 billion Partnership for Patients program that brings together providers, patient advocates, employers and unions to develop innovative ways to reduce hospital infections and complications and save money.
