Wisconsin LPN survey shows many are near retirement age

A Wisconsin Workforce Development survey of more than 14,000 licensed practical nurses found the largest percentage are between 55 and 59 years old and 40% plan to retire in the next five years. Also, less than 5% of the LPNs speak a second language. Judith Hansen, of the Wisconsin Center for Nursing, says the state needs more nurses and more diversity in the nursing workforce to be able to provide "culturally-competent care."
