AGC: 3 reasons why the shutdown will harm Calif. region's recovery

The shutdown of the federal government is expected to "hurt projects tied to federal spending in three ways, most immediately for those slated to happen in fiscal 2014," according to Brian Turmail, spokesman for The Associated General Contractors of America. Lost opportunities for new business, a stoppage of work at construction sites due to lack of federal inspectors on the job, and the spillover effect of construction workers having to spend less will hurt chances for recovery in California's Sacramento region, Turmail said.
