Boehner tells GOP lawmakers he won't let U.S. default

House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, has told Republican lawmakers in private conversations that he won't let a partisan standoff over the national debt limit force the U.S. government to default on its debts. If necessary, Boehner will rely on Republican and Democratic votes in the House to raise the debt cap, he told colleagues.
