How Chobani revived the N.Y. dairy industry

When Chobani CEO Hamdi Ulukaya arrived in New Berlin, N.Y., to purchase a shuttered Kraft factory, the area's dairy industry was floundering, but now seven years later, the Chobani plant uses more than 1 billion gallons of mostly locally-sourced milk from 850 farms per year. "When Chobani came, it was like, 'We need more milk,' and all of the sudden dairy became an important part of New York's future," said Kenneth Smith, executive director of the Cornell Cooperative Extension.
