Most Asian-Pacific markets rose Thursday amid news that China's official purchasing managers' index for the services sector hit a six-month high in September. The exception was Japan's Nikkei 225, which slid 0.1%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 1%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 edged up 0.4%. China's Shanghai Composite gained 0.7%. South Korea's Kospi was flat. India's Sensex was up 2%.
