Mako buys Pipeline Biomedical's orthopedic device business

Mako Surgical has agreed to pay $2.5 million in cash and almost 4 million shares of company stock to acquire the orthopedic device unit of Pipeline Biomedical. The deal, which could be finalized on Friday, comes after Stryker announced last week that it will purchase Mako for $1.65 billion.
