Report shows rise of specialty foods

A survey from the Specialty Food Association finds nearly 75% of shoppers purchased specialty food, including artisanal chocolates, cheeses and oil, this year, up from 46% in 2009. "The results confirm that consumers are responding to the wealth of innovative foods and beverages being produced today by food artisans and entrepreneurs across the U.S.," said Ron Tanner, vice president of communications and education.
