Study looks at diabetes care transition in adolescents, young adults

A majority of young type 1 diabetes patients in a pre-transition period from child care to adult care did not discuss the process with either their parents or doctors, but showed a relatively high Self-Efficacy for Diabetes Self-Management score, a study in Diabetes Care indicated. Researchers also found those in the post-transition care had "generally high ratings of supportive interactions with current adult diabetes care providers and low to moderate negative feelings about the transition," said lead researcher Marisa E. Hilliard.
