Women who experienced common stressors such as divorce and widowhood during midlife were 21% and 15% more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease and dementia, respectively, later in their life, according to a Swedish study published in BMJ Open. The more stressful events a woman experienced, the greater the risk of dementia, researchers said.
