Los Angeles to keep 16 special education schools

A 1996 federal court ruling ordered the district to integrate special education students into mainstream schools, but a federal judge last week permitted the district to maintain 16 of the facilities. Parents and others had worried that some students could suffer from being placed in mainstream schools.
