Transportation bill gets eight-month extension

Last week, Congress approved and President Bush signed an eight-month extension of the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century, which first expired in September 2003. The House, Senate and the Bush administration are at odds over the dollar amount for a six-year reauthorization bill, which many construction groups are calling for, and officials say they hope to agree on a six-year bill later this year.
