Tennessee grapples with troubling student violence trends

According to Tennessee Department of Education data, a disproportionate number of males, blacks and high school freshmen carried out assaults, toted weapons or committed other serious offenses last year. Although no school in the state earned an "unsafe" label, districts and legislators will be reviewing the numbers to determine how safety and prevention programs can be improved.
