Amount of sleep affects fat loss for dieters, study says

A small sleep lab study showed that participants under a calorie-restricted diet had a higher percentage of weight loss from shedding fat with 8.5 hours of sleep, but lost more lean body tissue when they slept for 5.5 hours a night. Researchers said the study looked only at short-term weight loss and that it is unclear how the findings could be applied outside laboratory settings.
