Southwest's integration of AirTran to require new technology

Southwest's acquisition of AirTran Airways includes 138 aircraft, international routes and more than a dozen new points for its domestic network. It does not, however, include a new reservations system. Gary Kelly, chief executive at Southwest, has made it clear that integrating AirTran's operations will require new technology and will take time.
