Chevron's Texas projects to create 10,000 construction, engineering jobs

Chevron Phillips Chemical will move forward with several petrochemical projects in Texas worth up to $6 billion. The joint venture of JGC Corp. and Fluor Enterprises has been awarded "an engineering, procurement and construction contract" for the company's ethane cracker facility in Baytown, while Technip USA and Zachry Holdings were awarded a contract for two polyethylene units in Old Ocean. A 1-hexane plant will also be built. Expected to generate as many as 10,000 engineering and construction jobs, the projects are scheduled for completion by 2017.
