Extended avocado season in Peru pushes prices down in Europe

September and October typically bring higher prices for avocados in Europe as Peruvian imports dwindle and fruit from Chile isn't yet available, but an extended Peruvian season this year is keeping prices low, according to the South African Avocado Growers Association. "The European avocado market is currently oversupplied with avocados and prices are low especially for larger count greenskins," said the association's Overseas Technical Officer Richard Nelson.
