House passes bills to fund National Guard, VA services

Bills to fund Veterans Affairs services and pay National Guard and reserve troops were passed by the House on Thursday and it signaled that it may take up legislation to ensure that all federal employees, even furloughed workers, eventually are paid. The bills are among several that House Republicans have moved forward in an attempt to relieve some of the effect of the government shutdown during the budget stalemate.
