IBM makes mobile marketing play with Xtify acquisition

IBM has expanded its commerce portfolio through the acquisition of Xtify, a company that specializes in notification marketing on mobile platforms. IBM will include the platform in its Smarter Commerce service lineup to expand support in mobile payment transactions. The purchase will help IBM customers continue to target customers as "traditional marketing channels become ineffective," Technology Business Research analyst Matthew Casey said.
