The 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership, which the Obama administration is working to finalize, would undermine American food safety, says Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn. The lawmaker is worried that poor food-safety rules in some countries involved in negotiations could endanger Americans and that food safety would be jeopardized further by a process backed by U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman. "This deal will lead to an influx of seafood imports from Asia, and we should therefore enhance funding for food safety at the FDA," DeLauro said.
