Franco Bernabe has resigned his post as chairman and CEO of Telecom Italia, the operator announced, saying that board Vice President Aldo Minucci would take over the chairman's post. The board also tapped Chief Operating Officer Marco Patuano as interim CEO. Bernabe's successor will need to deal with the telecom's spinoff of its fixed-line network and the potential sale of its Brazilian unit. Bernabe had collided with Telefonica, which holds a large share in the operator's largest investor, over Telecom Italia's strategic direction.
