P&G commits to crude oil alternatives

Procter & Gamble Co. plans to make surfactants used in detergents from palm kernel oil and coconut oil to reduce its reliance on crude oil by up to 20%. The move to naturals also will give the company more control over commodity prices and decrease its dependence on volatile energy markets, the company's CFO says.
