Faulty installation blamed on NYC crane collapse

A climbing tower of a crane section that collapsed in Manhattan Sept. 29 was not installed correctly, according to the New York City Department of Buildings. Several violations were issued in the incident that injured five people, including "supervision or use of rigging equipment without a master rigger's license, and "unsafe operation of a crane."
