Former official: FDA lacks resources to regulate nanotechnology

A former FDA official says the agency lacks the resources to regulate nanotechnology-based products without more budget increases than are planned. The agency is to hold its first public meeting Oct. 10 on developing proposals for regulating the technology, but the former official says its lack of knowledge about the subject could lead it to block innovative products.
