Blumenthal urges providers to become familiar with meaningful use

Dr. David Blumenthal, the national coordinator for health IT, said his office will lay out "in the coming weeks" the meaningful use criteria for "certified" electronic health records and programs designed to streamline the transition to EHR, among other efforts. Medical providers should familiarize themselves with the discussion of meaningful use criteria based on the recommendations put forward by the Health IT Policy and Standards panels as the CMS finalizes its rule, Blumenthal said.
