Researchers develop sensor to rapidly detect infectious diseases

U.S. researchers have developed an inexpensive DNA nanosensor that can spot bacteria and other infectious diseases in minutes. The portable sensor, which contains hairpin-shaped DNA strands that unfold when they link to a target gene sequence, is expected to be on the market within three years, according to one of the device's developers.
