Texting-while-driving ban backed by truck owners, operators

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association voiced its support for legislation that would ban motorists from texting while behind the wheel and urged government agencies to strictly enforce all existing laws against distracted driving. State programs that allow the police to observe motorists' behavior when sharing the road with tractor trailers "would go a long way in influencing highway safety," OOIDA Executive Vice President Todd Spencer said.
