Boeing, Airbus step up competition over single-aisle planes

The competition between Boeing and Airbus over the single-aisle plane market is intensifying as Airbus plans to overhaul the engine for the A320. Boeing is considering several different options to counter this, including a new aircraft. More than likely, though, the focus will be on greater fuel conservation.
