Share markets across the Asian-Pacific region turned in a mixed performance Tuesday, with interest-rate decisions having a big effect. Japan's Nikkei 225 went up 1.5%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 dropped 0.4% and South Korea's Kospi Composite closed unchanged. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index edged up 0.1%, Taiwan's Taiex slid 0.6% and New Zealand's NZX 50 lost 0.3%. In afternoon trading, Singapore's Straits Times Index and India's Sensex were flat. Chinese exchanges were closed for a holiday.
