Diesel tax would fuel a freight-infrastructure fund

A proposed diesel tax of 12 cents per gallon would help pay for repairs to freight infrastructure nationwide, including roads, rails, ports and bridges. Money collected through the tax would go into the Goods Movement Trust Fund, which would be cushioned with $4 billion from a general fund. The American Trucking Associations has endorsed the plan.
