Golf's unspoken rules of etiquette are changing

Private golf clubs' unofficial customs -- seemingly carved in stone for the past few decades -- are undergoing a shift. Blue jeans can be worn in many clubs now, especially if they are public, as can collarless shirts, sneakers, cargo shorts and flip-flops. Only a few clubs require women to tuck in their shirts now, and smoking has become permissible in the majority of both private and public clubs.
