USGC: China may import at least 5 million tons of corn this year

China's corn production is expected to reach a record 166.6 million metric tons this marketing year, which would be a 5.6% increase from the previous year but still unlikely to satisfy China's rising domestic demand, according to the U.S. Grains Council. China's demand for corn is projected to surpass 170.1 million metric tons this year, said USGC President and CEO Thomas C. Dorr.
