Gender wage gap is closing, economists say

The 13% wage gap between men and women decreases to 3.6% when the value of health care coverage and other benefits is considered, argues a paper written by two economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Women with children are more likely to take jobs with lower pay but better benefits, the report notes.
