Luxury brands are urged to target respectfully with mobile ads

Luxury marketers need to strike the right balance of targeting and discretion with their personalized mobile banner ads, so as not to overstep the boundaries of their customers' privacy, experts say. "With a device as personal as a mobile device, location and the operating system/device is about specific as you want to get without crossing lines. Beyond that, as a marketer, I recommend opt-in strategies for personalization," said Jarvis Mak, vice president of analytics at Rocket Fuel, Redwood Shores, Calif.
