Federal shutdown presents teachable moments for classrooms

Teachers and parents across the country are using the recent U.S. government shutdown to highlight how politics and partisanship affect government and consequently the nation. At Niles North High School in Skokie, Ill., teacher Pankaj Sharma used Skype for an interview with students and said he wants them to "learn the importance of compromise in our system of government and why compromise sometimes is difficult to achieve."
