Target has grown to one of the U.S.'s discount retail superpowers by offering trendy distinct products and a "unique" approach to marketing, and by turning its shoppers into treasure hunters, one writer contends. "Target is flourishing against Wal-Mart in the same business, while almost all their competitors have either disappeared or are struggling," says a Merrill Lynch analyst.
