Corps upgrades Hoover Dike plan in response to Katrina criticism

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it is revisiting its $300 million repair plan for the Herbert Hoover Dike around Florida's Lake Okeechobee to allow for upgrades in the future. New design principles were drafted in response to criticism over the Corps' response to Hurricane Katrina, and "upgradability" has now become a guiding principle for the dike repair project.
