Parents face holiday season with wary wallets

Budget-conscious parents are likely to seek out less expensive toys during the holiday shopping season this year and focus on products that will see the most use. Total traditional toy sales during the last three months of the year could decline approximately 2% compared with last year, according to market research. Toys "R" Us CEO Jerry Storch remains optimistic. "I've said it over and over, Christmas will come this year," he said. "I think we need to remember that parents are going to buy Christmas presents."
