WPP will acquire TNS

After months of courting, market research firm Taylor Nelson Sofres has agreed to a $1.95 billion acquisition by advertising holding company WPP Group. The deal provides WPP with a source of stable and predictable revenue streams amid the ebb and flow of advertising. TNS will be combined with WPP owned research group Kantar to create, in terms of revenue, the second-largest market research firm after Nielsen.
