Column: Cruise execs, agent reps discuss commissions

Kate Rice of TravelPulse.com explains how a panel discussion at ASTA's recent Retail Travel Leadership Summit focused on the commissions paid to travel agents for selling cruises. Agents are concerned that those commissions may one day be taken away and that commissions continue to dwindle as cruise lines discount. Cruise line executives said they do not have any plans to completely take commissions away but there is little they can do about smaller commissions from discounted cruises.
