Erickson Retirement Communities said to need new capital

The heavy debt load it took on while the U.S. economy was expanding is putting Erickson Retirement Communities in a cash squeeze, the company said. The privately held company is one of the biggest developers of retirement communities in the U.S. Erickson last month failed to make an interest payment on a $48 million junior corporate loan, The Wall Street Journal said.
