Google laying groundwork for mobile's big ad moment

Google's new enhanced mobile text ads are part of an effort to be ready when the segment goes "mainstream," according to independent search analyst Greg Sterling. "Google is seeing increasing search volumes from mobile, and smartphones in particular," Sterling said. "It is trying to get ahead of the curve with these initiatives so when [mobile advertising] becomes mainstream, Google will be one of the major players, and display is a key growth area for Google."
