Proposed tax credit for creating jobs debated

The idea of a tax credit for businesses that create jobs is gaining bipartisan support among lawmakers and economists in Washington. Critics say offering a small subsidy cannot make up for broader economic concerns affecting employment. "Why would a business hire a new worker?" says NFIB tax counsel Bill Rys. "They're hiring because they need to do work. Unless you have work to do, it's still an expense."
