Facebook revamps Groups to give users more control

Facebook on Wednesday unveiled an overhaul of its Groups feature, presenting a new vision for user interaction that CEO Mark Zuckerberg said "blows everything else away." Users can create groups for friends, colleagues or family members and control exactly who sees which parts of their online activity. The offering confirms Facebook's commitment to user-shaped social graphs, Anthony Ha writes, and could help position the company for the coming clash with Google, which has so far taken a more algorithmic and automated approach to social design.
